Born in 1934 in segregated South Africa, Arun Gandhi is the fifth grandson of India’s legendary leader, Mahatma Gandhi. Growing up under the discriminatory apartheid laws of South Africa, Arun Gandhi was beaten by white South Africans for being too dark and by black South Africans for being too light. As a boy, Arun Gandhi sought revenge through eye-for-an-eye justice.image001

Through daily lessons from his grandparents, however, Arun learned about the danger of anger and the true meaning of justice. Arun shares these lessons around the world as part of his mission to spread his grandfather’s message of soulforce, forgiveness, and peaceful revolution. Arun was a journalist for The Times of India for 30 years, and he is the author of several books, including Gandhi’s Legacy of Love, The Forgotten Woman: The Untold Story of Kastur, the Wife of Mahatma Gandhi, and most recently the bestselling Grandfather Gandhi. Arun is also the founder of Gandhi Global Center for Peace, a virtual hub for education and community building furthering Mahatma Gandhi’s philosophy of nonviolence and peace.
